From shop floor activities to creating inclusive events, there are many ways to get involved in our work. About Pride Space
Pride Space is an inclusive counselling service dedicated to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals with compassionate, affirming, and community-centred mental health care. Our online presence plays a key role in reaching those who may need support – and we’re looking for passionate volunteers to help us build and maintain that space.
This role is ideal for someone who is creative, community-minded, supportive of LGBTQ+ wellbeing, and looking to gain experience in digital communications or offer their expertise for a meaningful cause.
Role Overview
As a Volunteer Social Media Manager, you will contribute to planning, creating, and managing content across Pride Space’s social media channels. The role can be shared between two volunteers, allowing for flexible and manageable time commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Creation
- Support the development and implementation of a compassionate, inclusive social media strategy.
- Create posts, graphics, videos, and stories tailored to LGBTQ+ audiences.
- Help plan and maintain a flexible content calendar.
- Ensure messaging is trauma-informed and aligned with mental-health best practices.
Community Engagement
- Monitor comments and messages, responding with care and signposting appropriately.
- Uphold safeguarding guidelines when handling sensitive interactions.
- Foster a safe, welcoming online environment for our community.
Campaign Support
- Help create and promote content for events, counselling services, workshops, and outreach initiatives.

Volunteer Role: Lending Library Assistant
Location: The Pride Shop
Commitment: 2–4 hours per week / flexible shifts
Reports to: Library Coordinator / Manager
Role Overview
As a Lending Library Assistant, you’ll help ensure the smooth day-to-day running of our community library. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, staying organized, and supporting access to shared resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist visitors in a friendly and inclusive manner
- Help users locate, borrow, and return items
- Register new members and explain how the lending system works
- Organize and shelve books/materials to keep the space tidy
- Maintain accurate records of borrowed and returned items
- Support basic admin tasks (e.g., logging loans, updating records)
- Assist with events, workshops, or community activities (if applicable)
- Report any issues with materials or the space to the coordinator

Marketing & Promotions Volunteer
Purpose: Help promote events and services to the local community through digital and print channels.
Key Tasks:
- Design and schedule social media posts.
- Create promotional materials (posters, flyers, e-newsletters).
- Assist with outreach to press, schools, and partner orgs.
Skills & Experience:
- Basic graphic design (Canva or similar) and copywriting.

Time Commitment: 3–5 hours/week.
Volunteer Therapist/Counsellor
Purpose: Provide pro bono therapy/counselling sessions to individuals or groups in need.
Key Tasks:
- Deliver individual or group sessions.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records.
- Work under appropriate supervision or clinical governance.
Skills & Experience:
- Recognised qualifications in therapy or counselling.
- Insurance and registration with the relevant body (e.g., BACP, UKCP).
- Trauma-informed and culturally competent approach.

Peer Support Volunteer
Purpose: Use lived experience to offer informal emotional support and signposting.

Administrative Support Volunteer
Purpose: Support the day-to-day operations of the CIC.
Key Tasks:
- Data entry and document preparation.

- Supporting project leads with admin tasks.

- Discreet and able to handle sensitive information.

Fundraising & Grants Volunteer
Purpose: Help raise funds to support the CIC’s services and events.

- Research grant opportunities and funding streams.
- Assist with writing funding bids and proposals.
- Organize small fundraising campaigns or events.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong writing and research skills.
- Familiarity with funding landscape (desirable).

Café and Shop Worker (Volunteer)
Purpose:
To support the daily operations of the community café and shop by serving customers, preparing light refreshments, and helping create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all visitors.
Key Tasks:
- Serve food, drinks, and products to customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Handle cash and card transactions at the till.
- Restock shelves and maintain display areas.
- Assist with food preparation (e.g. drinks, snacks, light meals) under supervision.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the café/shop area.
- Engage with visitors and signpost them to other CIC services when appropriate.
- Follow health & safety and food hygiene procedures.
Skills & Experience:
- Friendly and approachable, with good communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Comfortable working in a team and with the public.
- Experience in retail or hospitality (desirable but not required).
- Willingness to learn food hygiene and safety procedures.

Pride Space CIC – Treasurer (Volunteer)
Reports to: Director
Location: Hybrid / Flexible (some in-person meetings may be required)
Time Commitment: Approximately 2–4 hours per month, plus quarterly board meetings
Purpose of the Role
The Treasurer ensures the financial health and integrity of Pride Space CIC. This role involves overseeing financial planning, monitoring budgets, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and providing clear, accurate financial reporting to the Board.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the organisation’s finances, including bank accounts, budgets, and cash flow.
- Produce regular financial reports for the Board and annual accounts for submission to Companies House and relevant regulators.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and statutory reporting requirements.
- Support fundraising strategies by providing financial insight and forecasts.
- Advise the Board on financial planning, risk management, and investment opportunities.
- Liaise with external accountants or auditors as necessary.
- Maintain transparent records of income, expenditure, and financial transactions.
Person Specification / Skills Required
- Strong financial literacy and accounting knowledge; formal accounting qualification desirable but not essential.
