PrideSpace exists because LGBTQ+ people deserve mental health care that is affirming, accessible, and rooted in understanding. LGBTQ+ communities experience disproportionately high rates of depression, anxiety, trauma, self-harm, and suicide—often as a result of stigma, discrimination, rejection, and lack of access to supportive care.

Our mission is to reduce these harms by removing barriers to mental health support and creating spaces where LGBTQ+ people feel safe, seen, and valued.

We provide free and low-cost counselling, counsellor-led support groups, and inclusive workshops and classes that centre lived experience and professional care. Through early intervention, community connection, and identity-affirming support, PrideSpace works to prevent suicide and self-harm while fostering resilience, healing, and hope—so LGBTQ+ individuals can move beyond survival and toward thriving.

PrideSpace is a non-profit, volunteer-led Community Interest Company aiming to create LGBTQ+ safe spaces across the UK.

We have two aims.

  1. One is to create safe spaces on the high street across the UK for all LGBTQ+ people, working with local Pride groups and other community organisations to offer a physical space for LGBTQ+ people to go.
  2. The second is to offer mental health and well-being services to LGBTQ+ people across the UK through low-cost and free counselling and therapy.

The Pride Space CIC Mission Statement

All of our practitioners, therapists, and facilitators agree to the following statement

  • At Pride Space, our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and affirming space for LGBTQ+ individuals in Nottingham and surrounding areas, to explore their thoughts, emotions, and identities through compassionate, person-centred counselling, groups and events.
  • We are committed to honouring each person’s unique experience, promoting mental and emotional wellbeing, and empowering clients to live authentically and fully.
  • Guided by empathy, respect, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community, we aim to support healing, growth, and self-acceptance in an environment free from judgment and discrimination.
